A NEWLY-opened barbershop plans to be a cut above the rest.
Something For The Weekend, Sir? on Hallgarth, Pickering, is already offering such male grooming as wet cuts and hair colouring with wet shaves to be introduced before Christmas.

Owner Sharon Hornby, 37, and full-time staff member Nicole McGirr then plan to start “phase two” of the operation in January when a treatment room opens with waxing, facials and massages, among other services aimed at refreshing and re-charging the batteries.

“I noticed there was a niche in the market,” said Sharon. “We are introducing something new to the area – upmarket treatments predominantly for the male market."

The former Lady Lumleys pupil added: “I’m really excited about it. We have had quite a lot of positive feedback from lots of people who want to have treatments.”

No appointment is necessary for the barbershop with the added attraction of a complementary beer while customers wait to be seen.

Sharon, who continues at Yorkshire Coast College as curriculum and quality manager, has worked in various salons, including a barbershop in London, helped establish the Goodys Training Academy in Malton and has taught at East Riding College.
